Mrs Munns Music Studio is based in the Central Wheatbelt of Western Australia, teaching instrumental music to students in Beacon, Bencubbin, Mukinbudin, Bonnie Rock & Kalannie. Online lessons are available for those further afield.

Preschool Music Development

I offer the award winning Jungle Music early childhood music programme. Parents and children love the characters, activities and dynamic and engaging music. It is what makes Jungle Music so special.

Individual or Group Lessons

Music is fun, but it takes a lot of perseverance, resilience, and practice to be good at it. I build a respectful mentoring relationship with each student, directing them through their musical training.

Online / Virtual Lessons

Online lessons provide a holistic approach to music education, offering the opportunity of musical education for those students who are unable to visit studios due to location, health or time constraints.

Music has been a part of my life from an early age. Piano from 4, percussion and flute in primary school, violin/viola from year 7 and guitar as an adult.

Studying Music Theory and History at Australia’s National University alongside a series of professional music development opportunities has given me a great platform to build my musical knowledge and teaching styles. Working with young students to develop their music experiences is rewarding and I enjoy the enormous benefits, fun and life enrichment that having music in life can bring.

What I teach

Piano

The piano is the King of all musical instruments and is the best one to start out on. If you learn to play the piano, you can then easily learn to play other musical instruments.

Learning the piano is the best way to learn music theory and study music. The piano is the only instrument where you look right at the notes as you are playing.

Guitar

Just like picking up a new sport, learning to play the guitar greatly improves your hand-eye coordination as it requires very specific muscle movements that your body isn’t quite used to doing yet.

Playing guitar is such a cathartic and calming experience, expressing yourself through guitar playing is an exciting experience for any beginner.

Violin

Many people think that it’s too hard, too expensive, or just plain too difficult to learn how to play the violin. However, you may be surprised to discover that they, like any undertaking, simply require having the right tools and the right instruction.

The violin has been a beloved instrument in a multitude of cultures and for a wide range of genres. No matter the type of music, you can add your violin to it.

Music lessons are so much more than teaching people about music.

Vanessa has been teaching our children music for the past 4 years. We have been incredibly pleased with the service that Vanessa provides. She has a true passion and love for music and this is infectious to her students. Our eldest daughter was only 6 when she first began classes, at the time she was struggling emotionally with changes in her life, Vanessa’s class brought calmness into her world and was so beneficial to her with learning to cope with the worries she was feeling day to day. We are very grateful to Vanessa for giving our children the opportunity to learn music in our remote rural community where extracurricular opportunities are few and far between.

My 8 year old daughter loves her online piano lessons with Vanessa and looks forward to them every week because they are always fun and engaging. We initially signed up for online lessons because we needed the flexibility. We thought we would later find a face to face teacher where we live, but we have been so impressed with how much and how quickly our daughter’s skills have increased that we are going to continue online and have signed up our second daughter this year also. Vanessa does a fabulous job and makes learning music a joy!

Music develops children physically emotionally and intellectually, it is more than an extra curricular activity. What stands out with Vanessa’s teaching is her passion, reflection and continual betterment of herself and her students. We are so lucky to have Vanessa delivering professional music lessons in Kalannie.

We had been wanting to start music lessons for our boys, but it wasn’t until we met Vanessa did we finally commit! We started with one child who needed special considerations, and time to decide if he wanted to participate. To say Vanessa was accomodating is an understatement. It took one term only for Jensen to fall in love with Vanessa and his lessons! Since then opportunities have opened for him with additional musical instruments, including encouraging his brother to play guitar! We are now a musical family! Three instruments and counting! Thank you Vanessa for the way you developed confidence in both of our boys with your knowledge of music and kindness.
